                Next Generation Learning Community
                                        NxGLC

A personalized learning environment that engages today’s digital learners in developing core academic knowledge. Within the context of core academic knowledge students will think critically, collaborate, communicate, and problem solve effectively to prepare them for success in today’s global economy.
Why is NxGLC important?
Preparing students for yesterday’s , or even today’s economy and society is not good enough. We must look forward and transform our classrooms to prepare students for a different and rapidly changing world. We must focus on the learning needs of students and what will ensure their life and work success in the future through personalization, collaboration and creative problem solving.
No one person will be able to know all that is necessary to solve tomorrow’s problems and deal with the complexity of the challenges we will face. To prepare students to be engaged global citizens, schools must give students meaningful ways to develop autonomy and responsibility in an environment that offers a comprehensive curriculum that supports inquiry, creative problem solving, and collaboration. Students must be able to work collaboratively and develop teamwork and interpersonal skills in a real-world context.
Global awareness, communication, and collaboration requires students to become informed and competent users of technology. Technology needs to become a key vehicle for personalized learning, not a side tool to simply improve or speed up  what students are already learning. It allows students to harness the power and flexibility of personalized learning connected to a students’ interests, experiences, and talents. It provides 24/7 accessibility to the rapidly changing bank of global content knowledge needed to answer questions of inquiry and creatively solve problems. It provides an effective way to communicate, collaborate and share new learning.
